Bethesda Game Studios is working on The Elder Scrolls 6, but it’s still a “very long way off.”
The developer is working on three new projects including Elder Scrolls 6, though it sounds like the other two are the priority. Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard confirmed development on Elder Scrolls 6 on YouTube’s Live at E3 stream.
According to IGN‘s transcription, Howard said Elder Scrolls 6 is “kind of like the elephant in the room” when Bethesda discusses anything they’re working on. “I think it’s good in these moments to tell our fans, yes, of course we are [working on it.]”
It’s a franchise Bethesda loves, he said, but he wants to be careful when talking about it, as it is “a very long way off.”
What they have in mind for the game will “take a lot of time.” In addition, the two other games Bethesda is working on are “bigger than everything [the studio has] done.” Fans will “probably hear about those even before Elder Scrolls 6,” he added. “That’ll make sense many years from now.”
Howard continued, “[Bethesda] think[s] very long term. We’re not a developer that’s going to rush something like this out.” It’s simply just going to take some time to develop the technology needed to achieve the studio’s goals.
Bethesda is not releasing more information about its other two games, and Howard noted that the studio will “talk about it when we talk about it.”
