During E3 2016, Sony introduced its PlayStation VR Aim Controller, which was showcased alongside developer Impulse Gear’s “unnerving space adventure,” Farpoint. According to Impulse Gear co-founder Seth Luisi, the developer worked closely with Sony to “develop an entirely new way to play games” with the new device.
The PlayStation VR Aim Controller is expected to offer “the most realistic and precise way to control” Farpoint. It’s got 1:1 tracking, so to aim, players will point just as you would in real-life. “How you hold and where you point the controller are directly matched in the game,” Luisi added.
Adding to the “unbelievable sense of presence in the virtual world,” the PlayStation VR Aim Controller allows players to “do things” they aren’t able to do in standard first-person shooter games.
No release date for Sony’s PlayStation VR Aim Controller has been announced.
During its press conference, Sony announced a slew of PlayStation VR titles—including an exclusive Batman: Arkham VR game. The game is expected to be a short, one-hour murder mystery. Batman: Arkham VR will launch exclusively for PlayStation in October.
Also during the press conference, Sony revealed a new trailer for Final Fantasy XV. It was also announced that Square Enix had added PlayStation VR capabilities to the game.
