GamesIndustry recently questioned a number of anonymous developers who are currently in the midst of developing Wii U-branded games. According to the report, they aren’t impressed.
"No, it's not up to the same level as the PS3 or the 360," said one of the developers, who continued, "the graphics are just not as powerful,”
A second source reinforced the first’s remarks. “It doesn’t produce graphics as well as the PS3 or the 360. The graphics are just not as powerful. There aren’t as many shaders, it’s not as capable. Overall the Wii U just can’t quite keep up.”
While the second source did play damage control, noting the new controller’s innovativeness, a third countered his argument – in spirit.
“The whole thing about the tablet controller is that you only get one of them, and you can only use one and it’s not completely independent,” said the disgruntled developer.
“The base console has to be on, and you have to be in range. Other controllers are just Wiimotes, or other Wii controllers. They may change the form factor or looks a bit, but it’s the same controller.”
The rumors, leaks, and announcements have been extremely forthcoming over the past two weeks. Are you ready for the next generation of consoles?
