Robot Entertainment has just announced Orcs Must Die! 2, which you haven’t already guessed, is the sequel to last year’s tower defense game with third person action. The new game is set for a Summer 2012 release on Steam and other digital download services for the PC.
This time around, players can bring a friend to fend off the hordes of orcs cooperatively, so the ‘2’ in the title is more than just the sequel’s number.
“In 2011, we implored players to kill the orcs,” said Robot Entertainment CEO Patrick Hudson. “As many as possible. Yet, only 3.4 billion orcs have been slaughtered to date. The only way we will get to a respectable orc death toll is by adding another killing machine and cooperative play. Bring a friend and destroy the orcs!”
In addition to 2-player co-op, Orcs Must Die! 2 will also offer a redesigned spellbook which offers players a broader range of options to deck out their defenses. The game is also getting a new upgrade system to allow players to specialize in specific methods of killing orcs.
