Rumored to be cancelled, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millenium has risen from the dark bowels of the world and is still going to happen despite layoffs at THQ. However, the company is changing the direction of the game. Instead of being an MMORPG, Dark Millenium will be a single player game with an online multiplayer experience. Brian Farrell, CEO of THQ, claims that because of the “changing market dynamics” in addition to the added investment that is need to launch the game as an MMO, THQ has decided to take this new direction and “shift the title from an MMO to a premium experience with single and multiplayer game play. Any platform or release date details have yet to be revealed for the game.
So what do you think? To me this just sounds like a cop out because of the cuts, but I don't blame them. Even the CEO had to take a 50% pay cut which is unfortunate but still admirable.
