Publisher Focus Home Interactive has released a new trailer for upcoming adventure game Call of Cthulhu.
Based off Chaosium’s pen and paper role-playing game, Call of Cthulhu offers stealth mechanics tied to psychological horror story. Developed by Cyanide Studio for consoles and PC, Call of Cthulhu centers on Edward Pierce—a veteran and private investigator in 1920s Boston—as he investigates the death of Sarah Hawkins and her family.
The new trailer explores the Hawkins mansion on the “eerie” Darkwater Island. It’ll give players a peek at the “intensity of the investigation” that’ll “slowly start chipping away at your sanity.”
Call of Cthulhu is expected to be released on consoles and PC in 2017.
The project has long been in development. Sherlock Holmes studio Frogwares initially began developing the project back in 2014; in February, Styx: Master of Shadows developer Cyanide took over on Call of Cthulhu.
“We are happy that Focus entrusted us with the development of a video game adaptation of the legendary RPG Call of Cthulhu. As long-time fans of the license, working with longtime partner publisher Focus Home Interactive on such an original and exciting project is, once again, a privilege. We hope to offer fans the game they’ve long been waiting for,” Cyanide CEO Patrick Pligersdorffer said.
