Apparently, gamers have decided to stand up to Bioware and its purported bad ending. While the consumer market and developers have gone back and forth over the past few weeks in regards to who is right and who is wrong, things are finally coming to a crest – a tasty crest, at that.
Gamer group Retake Mass Effect is a collective of people who are unhappy with Mass Effect 3’s less-than-amazing ending, and they have raised an enormous $80,000.00 for charity Child’s Play. There would have been even more money thrown to the group, but they were worried about being seen as a tool for the group. They also have raised money for Kids Need To Read, a charity dedicated to literacy and founded by actor Nathan Fillion.
Their latest endeavor, though, is one of a more happy kind. They plan to bring the services of Fuss Cupcakes into the ordeal, who will deliver 402 cupcakes to the developer – equally divided into three colors: red, blue and green. Each color cake will be labeled A, B, or C. This is a stab at the project leader, Casey Hudson, who made some interesting statements during the game’s development.
They aren’t doing this without demand, however. They have attached notes to each cupcake, and have assured us that the notes in question are not offensive in nature. An open letter will make its appearance over the coming days dictating the groups’ hopes and ideas for future changes in Mass Effect 3’s story – obviously, the ending.
