Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Asha Sharma held a Q&A with their gaming division last month. While some of the quotes from that meeting have starting trickling out online, we now know one quote going viral online turned out to be completely fake.
Microsoft communications lead Frank X. Shaw said this on Twitter:
this: “Asha Sharma has my full trust and has A BLANK CHECK to revive Xbox and the trust of the fans no matter the cost” was not said.
We’re not sure what the source of the quote is, but the meeting was more about reassuring the Xbox and dev teams they are valued instead of making seemingly empty promises.
Asha talked about spending her time meeting the Xbox division’s teams, pointing out 10 % of their staff had been there for 20 years. She also affirmed that video games have to be ‘crafted’ by humans, and can’t be treated as software to be manufactured.
She reaffirmed that ‘everything is being relitigated’ in Xbox’s strategy, but no final decisions have been made yet on what to change.
