Valve was caught pulling back on their statement about supply issues affecting the launch of their upcoming hardware.

As reported by PC Gamer, Valve shared this statement in a recent Steam update:
We hope to ship in 2026, but as we shared recently, memory and storage shortages have created challenges for us. We’ll share updates publicly when we finalize our plans!
After a firestorm of online reaction, they updated their statement:
We shared recently that there have been challenges with memory and storage shortages, but we will be shipping all three products this year. More updates will be shared as we finalize our plans.
Valve’s initial announcement of the new Steam controller, Steam Frame VR headset, and new Steam Machine initially received a lot of excitement.
But worries started mounting about the availability and price of these products because of issues with memory and storage supplies.
While concern is warranted, Valve also seems unsure if they’ll really have trouble shipping their new hardware products. Hopefully they’ll have positive news in the coming weeks.
