Square Enix, Sega, and More Post “Back To Work” Images

January 5, 2026 by Todd Black

Their schedules are undoubtedly busy.

What is the best part of the holiday season? For some, it’s the presents that come from the holidays that they celebrate. For others, it’s the fact that they’ll get to spend time with family and friends and reminisce over the year that was. Others enjoy the sports focus that often happens this time of year, especially in America. Then, there’s the fact that for many jobs, there is a “break period” from work, even if it’s only for a day or two. That happens in many places, including Japan, as companies like Square Enix, SEGA, Monolith Soft, and more give their workers time off so they can enjoy the holidays.

However, like everywhere else around the world, they all have to come back to work, and today, a lot of those companies posted images to showcase that they are indeed back in the “gaming habit.” Here are some of their posts:

Sega announced they are back to work after the holidays.

They are simple things, but it’s nice to know that these teams are thinking about their fanbases and want them to know that they are back working on the games that they’ll hopefully release this year. To that end, each of these teams is in a different place when it comes to looking forward.

For example, Square Enix has some key ports and remakes possibly coming out this year, and that has some fans excited, as they want to see where certain classic stories end. There have always been rumors about things behind the scenes that might not be so good, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for that. Their 2025 end strongly with some nice releases, but we’ll have to see if that progresses in 2026.

SEGA had a good 2025 as well, with some key releases across the various groups under their umbrella, while also announcing some titles that will please fans when they finally drop. They might be one to watch out for in the new year.

Finally, there’s Monolith Soft, which has been rather secretive about what its next title is. They did have a key remaster drop last year, along with helping Nintendo with the launch title for the Switch 2, but many are eager to see what the NEXT game is, as it’ll likely be something special, given the team’s pedigree.

No matter what, all eyes are on these companies and more as 2026 continues on, as gamers want as many incredible titles to enjoy as possible.
