Far Cry TV Series Is Officially In The Works

November 25, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s what we know so far.

It really wasn’t too long ago that we saw video game adaptations completely fail. However, something changed over the past few years, where we’re starting to see a real boom. There are now notable adaptations that stay close to the source material. As a result, these adaptations are often praised and enjoyed by both fans of the IP and newcomers alike. Now it looks like Ubisoft’s Far Cry series is next up to bat.

Ubisoft has dabbled in adaptations of its IPs. However, Far Cry will soon get another chance to showcase the feel of the video games to Hulu subscribers. While details remain scarce since its initial announcement, we do know a few things about this upcoming production.

Far Cry TV Series Is In The Works

Thanks to Variety, news broke that FX is developing a Far Cry TV series. While we don’t have much information about who is involved in the project, we do know that Noah Hawley and Rob Mac will be bringing this series to life. Likewise, those interested in viewing the show can find it on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ for international audiences.

Meanwhile, we don’t know if any games are specifically being picked out to be adapted into the series. There are several installments available that the production team could pick through. Since the games are all set around a unique storyline and cast of characters, any installment could work out for the debut season.

What I love about the ‘Far Cry’ game franchise is it’s an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of ‘Fargo’ is a variation on a theme. To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the screen. -Noah Hawley

It’s worth pointing out that this is also the plan for the series after the first season debuts. Each season should be its own self-contained storyline with a different cast of characters. I would imagine that would help production with backdrops and environment locations for each season, rather than being stuck at the same general area for the entire series run.

Unfortunately, at the moment, we’re left waiting on when we’ll be sitting down and watching this series. There are no details yet on when production is aiming to launch the first season, but again, that’s not surprising, as this show was just unveiled.
