What Does GTA 6 Delay Say About PC Version?

November 10, 2025 by Todd Black

The wait will be longer for some than for others.

It’s only technically been a few days since the announcement of GTA 6 being delayed until late 2026, but as you can already tell, things have gone downhill in a hurry across many fronts. Fans have been trying to “cope” with what happened and rationalize why this might be a good thing. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have taken a big hit in their value due to the delay, and so on. The cascading effect is growing, and with each meme that comes out, thanks to the delay, you have to wonder if things will get even worse by the time the game actually comes out.

Well, that’s the trick, now isn’t it? You see, the thing is already worse…if you’re a PC gamer. Recall that the announcement for the GTA 6 delay was focused on the console release, as that’s where most people will play it. However, Rockstar Games has a loyal PC contingent of gamers, especially for those who loved using things like the Rockstar Editor to make special content to put online. It’s a thriving community, despite the fact that they get the shaft when it comes to release dates.

No matter the Rockstar title, the PC version always comes out over a year after the console version’s release. So, if the upcoming title isn’t coming out until November 2026, that means that the PC version might not come out until November 2027 at the earliest, and that’s only if we use the “at the earliest” guidelines. Let’s not forget that when it came to the previous entry in the crime series, it took 19 months for the PC version to finally come out. That’s quite a wait!

Plus, that doesn’t take into consideration whether another delay might happen to push the console version into 2027, which could push things into 2029 for the PC version, depending on how far back the next potential delay pushes the release.

So, yeah, if you’re a PC gamer, you’re going to have to wait a bit and then hope that the PC version is quality. Sadly, there have been numerous releases recently that haven’t done that. They’ve instead shirked the PC release, and fans have been ticked as a result. In many ways, PC gaming is the “pinnacle” of how games should be because of how far computers can go with their graphics and processing, but it only matters if you optimize things for it.

We’ll see how Rockstar Games does with its optimization…if they ever release the game!
