Stranger Things Star Reacts To GTA 6 Delay

November 10, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

“We got through a whole series before we got GTA 6.”

When it comes to taking time before releasing into the marketplace, there are a few notable IPs that can relate. We’re waiting on that next novel from Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, the next season of Stranger Things, and, of course, Rockstar Games with GTA 6. Fortunately, we know at least two of those three things have dates attached. Sorry, Game of Thrones fans.

Still, it’s always a bit of a heartache when we find a delay announcement comes about. That can take the wind out of your sails relatively easily. I’m sure you are all well familiar with the recent news now for Grand Theft Auto VI. That game was delayed and pushed further back towards the end of 2026. Now we’re getting some of the reactions to this delay announcement, including that of a star from Stranger Things.

Stranger Things was another IP that fans had been waiting for endlessly. We know the final season is coming, and we’re going to receive the start of that season this month. As a result, some press and media marketing efforts are underway for the Stranger Things franchise. One of the events involved IGN media being present, where they had the opportunity to speak with actor Gaten Matarazzo.

Thanks to an X post, we’re getting the video snippet of the reaction. IGN asked Gaten if he had heard that Grand Theft Auto VI was delayed. Gaten jokingly noted that they managed to get the entire Stranger Things franchise out before Grand Theft Auto VI, and he recalled how he was just a kid when GTA 5 was released. Now, he’s in his 20s and waiting for GTA 6 to come out.

That said, he’s fine with the delay. He wants Rockstar Games to take their time and make it great. When the developers are ready, we’ll be ready, says Gaten. Now we just have to wait until we reach that point. Currently, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release in November 2026.

Meanwhile, there are still fans hopeful that we might not wrap up 2025 without another marketing material drop for GTA 6. In fact, a recent discovery on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel revealed that an unlisted video has been uploaded.
