XBLA Achievement Limit Increasing

March 12, 2012 by Joe Ryan

This way, people have ‘a reason’ to play XBLA games

There are a number of people who only play games on Xbox 360 to get Achievements. Something about those little points just lights up the pleasure center of their brains, and once a game has no more points to offer, it's on to the next thing. For this type of person, the news you are about to read will be of interest.

According to a report from Xbox360Achievements, the amount of points you'll be able to get from downloadable XBLA games is about to increase. Right now, most games only offer 200 points and 20 Acheivements, with the option of getting up to 350 points total with DLC packs. If the report is correct, you'll soon be able to get 400 points with 30 Achievements in the base games, with a potential total of 800 points and 62 Achievements with DLC.

This will certainly be good news for anyone who loves getting those Achievement points, and will hopefully keep people playing good downloadable games for longer than they would have otherwise. It doesn't really effect people who don't care about Achievement points, but I don't really see a downside here. Game on, Achievement hunters!
