Quantic Dream Still Exclusive to Sony

March 9, 2012 by Mat Growcott

Despite talk a while ago, Quantic Dream’s next game will still be a PlayStation exclusive.

Quantic Dream are still exclusive to Sony, David Cage spoke with IGN yesterday and revealed that the studio could even end up first-party. This is after he gave an interview shortly after the release of Heavy Rain saying that multi-platform could make sense on future games, an exciting prospect for 360-only users who liked the look of the developer's recent work but didn't get chance to actually play it.

"We are exclusive to Sony right now," he said, shortly after his talk at GDC, in which he showed off the amazing new KARA film. "We're open to all options [such as becoming a first-party studio], but again, we're not a studio driven by money. It's an important element, of course, but it's not like 'Tell me how much money you give me and I'm going to do whatever you want.'"

This is in line with his thoughts that the PS3 is far from "maxed out."

"We had thought we had done a pretty decent job on Heavy Rain, and we just realized we didn't do anything with the hardware. We could do much more than that, and this is what we intend to do in the near future," Cage said. "There's still a lot to do with the PlayStation 3 I'm telling you."
