Sony Is Dropping A PlayStation 5 Painted With The Spirit of Atsu

July 11, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Sony looks to give you that Samurai-grade vibe.

Sony PlayStation 5 might have been released a few years ago now, but some of you might have yet to make the purchase. It’s these limited editions, like the Ghost of Yotei, that might just persuade you to change that finally. Otherwise, if you already have a PS5, this edition could still entice you to purchase a second unit or make an upgrade. Whatever the case, these models look incredible, and it’s all about the upcoming Ghost of Yotei game.

Sucker Punch Productions just recently had a deep dive into their upcoming game, Ghost of Yotei. If you missed it, we’ve got a breakdown of what was unveiled, along with the video stream broadcast, right here. However, Sony is going one step further with the upcoming release of this game, and that’s with a special edition PlayStation 5 model. Or I should say models, because there are two variants with this release.

Both models of the Ghost of Yotei PS5 limited edition feature the same overall look. It’s a painting showcasing Mt. Yotei, an iconic location of the game. The limited edition you’ll find at retailers would be the Gold setup. This is made to look like kintsugi, a Japanese art form where lacquer and gold are used to repair broken ceramics.

Meanwhile, there is the same-looking model but in black. That limited edition is only available through the official PlayStation store. In this case, the art style being mimicked is sumi-e, which is the classic Japanese traditional art form focusing on black ink paintings.

Both models will come with DualSense controllers that are also themed around whichever model you select, along with a digital copy of Ghost of Yotei. Likewise, both will be available while supplies last, starting on October 2, 2025. For direct links to purchase the limited edition console, along with a little more of a breakdown of what you’ll get, can be found on the official PlayStation blog right here.
