A new video has turned up on the web purporting to be a presentation of AMD's next generation GPU chip, codenamed "Tenerife". It is said to run Graphics Core Next 2.0.
The video was discovered by users on the Rage3D enthusiast forums. The authenticity of the video cannot be verified at this point in time, and AMD has yet to make any statements regarding the possible leak.
According to the film, AMD's next generation chip is called the "Tenerife", continuing with the company's trend of using the name of islands as codenames for its products. It's described as a successor to the current generation of shaders, offering 1.2 times more power than the AMD Radeon 7970. There will be no changes made to the amount of onboard memory, as AMD continues to use DDR5 with a 384-bit interface.
Little else is known about the purported chip, with no details about how many shader units it carries. It's unknown whether the 20% performance increase is attributable to GCN 2.0.
