2K Games and Gearbox Software has finally confirmed the launch details for Borderlands 4.

In a new press release, they affirmed the latest confirmed release date of September 12, 2025. However, between the initial announcement and today, they revealed the Switch 2 version would be coming later than on other platforms. Today, they state that the Switch 2 version, which was handled in-house by Gearbox Software themselves, will be coming ‘later in 2025.’
But the big announcement is definitely about price, especially after Randy Pitchford tried and failed to do damage control over Borderlands 4 potentially costing $ 80. Well, we now know that it will be available for $ 69.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Game Store.
As you may expect, there are higher tier special editions as well. The Deluxe Edition, priced at $ 99.99, includes the Bounty Pack Bundle. This comprises 4 DLC packs, four Vault Cards, and a load of gear, weapons, vehicles, and cosmetics.
The Super Deluxe Edition, priced at $ 129.99, will have the Bounty Pack Bundle as well as the Vault Hunter Pack. This Pack will have two Story Packs featuring a Vault Hunter each, two map regions, and even more gear and cosmetics. It will also come with an Ornate Order Pack with a load of other cosmetics, that we’re sure will make more sense when we find out in-game what the Ornate order is.
There is also a pre-order bonus in the form of a Gilded Glory Pack. This includes one Vault Hunter Skin, one Weapon Skin, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin, but Gearbox does say you will be able to purchase this pack later if you miss out on pre-orders.
All things considered, Borderlands 4 will absolutely still be expensive at launch, and falling between $ 60 and $ 80 may not be enough to save it from the discourse. On the other hand, we would say that the Borderlands brand remains sufficiently strong enough that it should still have a decent launch this coming September.
While we don’t know the reason for the delay of the Switch 2 version, given that Gearbox has promised cross platform play with it and other versions, they will have to put in some work to get that system working on newly launched video game platform. Hopefully, Gearbox have made it worth the wait for all gamers, as the biggest game from Take-Two this 2025.
