The internet will undoubtedly be set aflame with the revelation that Mass Effect 3 is being launched with three DLC new packs for the game upon its release tomorrow.
The DLCs serve as an enhancement to the game's cooperative multiplayer and come in three varieties. Among the packs available are the Veteran Pack and the Spectre Pack. They can be bought as many times and as often as you like.
The Veteran Pack is purchasable for 80 BioWare points or 20,000 in-game credits—that's one dollar in real money. Meanwhile, the Spectre Pack goes for 60,000 in-game credits or 160 BioWare points, or two dollars. Each Spectre pack comes with a rare unlock, allowing you access to top tier weapons and alien races.
For those not in the know, players who run in Gold difficulty missions in Mass Effect 3's multiplayer mode can earn up to 55K in-game points per mission, or one Spectre pack per gold run.
BioWare has undoubtedly set up the scheme for players who choose not to dedicate their time to playing the game and want instead to gain instant access to unlocks by paying for them.
Color me unsurprised.
