PAYDAY: The Heist On Sale, and Free to Play This Weekend

March 2, 2012 by Joe Ryan

Why not give it a shot?

When PAYDAY: The Heist was released, people described the game as being 'like the first five minutes of The Dark Knight' or 'like Left 4 Dead, but you play as criminals and there are no zombies.' Basically, it's a first-person shooter about teaming up with a couple of friends and pulling off various crimes. As you might expect, the game is heavily dependent on people wanting to play it, because teamwork is all important.

Well if you like playing games on your PC and have a Steam account, you can pick the game up right now for half off, bringing the price to a perfectly acceptable $9.99. If you want to give the game a try before deciding to put the cash in, you'll also be able to play the game for free over the weekend.

It's a great strategy, and one designed to get some new folks interested in the game, increasing the size of the playing community and adding more life to a game that is based on teaming up with other people. If you have a couple of friends, why not spend the weekend trying the game out absolutely free? Who knows, it might end up becoming the new nightly game that you play for the next few months. And if not, you haven't lost anything! It's the best of both worlds.
