People were greatly looking forward to the release of Battlefield 3: Aftershock on iOS, but were disappointed when the quality of the game wasn't exactly up to expections. After hearing the complaints, EA decided to re-evaluate the game, pulling it from the App Store with no news about when it might return.
As it turns out, that will be on the 7th of Never. EA has announced that the game will not be coming back to the App Store at all. They released this statement:
"In the interest of bringing consumers only the highest level of quality mobile entertainment. EA Mobile has decided to suspend development and support of Battlefield 3: Aftershock and refocus its resources on other titles." If you happened to enjoy the game, you will still be able to play until March 31, when the servers will taken down.
As irritating as this may be to some, I think it might be encouraging news. How often will a company release a game (especially on iOS) that is lacking in quality and just leave it out there for people to buy, figuring that some money is better than no money at all? After spending the money to develop the game, the fact that EA would choose to pull the game completely rather than just leaving it on the App Store to make a few extra dollars might just mean that they care about the quality of the games they release more than making a quick buck. Sounds pretty good to me.
