WB Games seems to have a game in development after all.
After the terrible news of the past two years, it didn’t seem like WB Games would have any new games in development. As we learned, big projects like Multiversus and Quidditch Champions didn’t bring in the revenue that the company expected. This in itself would not have been so bad, if it didn’t come in the heels of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. In the fallout, WB Games cancelled Multiversus and the Wonder Woman game, and closed three studios.

However, Timur222 shared evidence that WB Games is actually set to reveal a game this year. Brandon Maraia has been working as Game Design Lead for WB Games since May 2023. Interestingly, he’s listed as working remote from Boston Massachusetts.
Maraia’s LinkedIn lists this under his experience:
“Manager of Game Design for a new unannounced IP game, launching in 2025.
Lead Designer and PO responsible for the first-time user experience, narrative, quests, and player customization.”
It must be said, Maraia’s prior experience includes working on an NFT game, and before that, working on product design for Blizzard’s live service games. So there’s a good chance that this isn’t really intended to be a console game, though it could come to consoles.
It must also be said, in spite of Maraia’s description, this may not really be a ‘new’ game, in the sense that it’s a completely original IP. We now know that WB Games primarily wants to cash in on their existing IPs, to the point that they’ve misled their own developers about being interested in their own original game pitches.
So, this could be one of two things. This could be a new game idea that’s based on an existing WB IP. Or, it could be another crossover video game filled with multiple existing IPs, like MultiVersus.
We can certainly stay hopeful that WB Games has something that’s actually interesting in the works that they will be announcing shortly. If it is a console game, we may see it coming for the Switch 2, as much as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. And if it isn’t a AAA project, as much as it is a multiplatform live service title, it could also make it to the Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
As we’ve recently reported, WB Games has already gone through changes, and is now under JB Perrette. Whatever WB Games’ immediate plans are, they will be the testing ground if Perrette can live up to the task he faces to revive Warner Bros’ game division.
