There are plenty of shifts in the games industry. You can see the trends over the years, with studios seeking to cut a slice for themselves in the market when a type of game takes off. Live service games have become more prominent over the years as developers throw out new games in the marketplace in hopes of catching lightning in the bottle. Some of these games do well, while others quickly spiral down after their launch. We all remember Concord and how well that game did. However, CD Projekt Red is one studio that isn’t looking to follow trends but stick to its roots.
In a recent management board report from CD Projekt Red, the CEO, Michal Nowakowski, mentioned their views. More specifically, the company’s CEO spoke about how they are sticking with single-player games as they believe they have strong roots. There will always be a market for players looking to enjoy a single-player video game experience, and this studio is known for producing some big hits.
We are aware that the video game market continues to evolve – however, we believe that cutting-edge single-player games rooted in strong franchises and immersive narratives will continue to enjoy great popularity. Our experience, along with brands such as The Witcher and Cyberpunk, which it is our pleasure to further develop, help us build a strong position on the market and paint a positive outlook – while collaboration with global tech and innovation leaders enables us to keep abreast of technical developments in the industry and continue to deliver top-quality entertainment.
CD Projekt Red has established some solid franchises right now for single-player video games. We have The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, in particular, pointed out. While Cyberpunk 2077 might have stumbled out of the gate when it was released, the developers did turn it around. Now, it’s a game highly recommended among players if they have yet to check out this RPG.
At the moment, we know that the studio is bringing out The Witcher 4, which is following Ciri this time around. Likewise, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in development, but we know next to nothing about that game. The same goes for the new IP Project Hadar, which the studio is also working through. But it’s nice knowing that CD Projekt Red won’t follow trends and try to pivot away from its roots of single-player games.
