Following news of the GAME retail group’s cancellation of Mass Effect 3 pre-orders, Australian customers can breath a sigh of relief knowing their purchases are safe. The Australian branch of the retailer today confirmed that Australian stores will not be effected by the stock issues.
Panic among Australian consumers broke out following news that the UK GAME retail group, which includes Gamestation, would not only be cancelling all Mass Effect 3 pre-orders, but would no longer be stocking Electronic Arts games after SSX. Despite EA recently holding a special early access event with the retailer, Australians who had pre-ordered through the retailer spent the rest of the night hoping for a more positive announcement in the morning.
GAME Australia today confirmed on their Facebook page that there would be no such changes in the local Australian branches. “In light of the news over in Europe between GAME and EA around Mass Effect 3, we would like to formally update you on our position locally.” The Facebook update read. “Each territory acts independently and we’re not compelled to act in the same light as our European counterparts. We’re in talks with EA here in Australia this morning and our intension [sic] is, as it has always been, to stock Mass Effect 3 for our customers.”
The retailer later updated to confirm that they would “definitely” be stocking the game.
