Today is the day that many people have been waiting for, as today is the day that Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition has released on Nintendo Switch!!!! The port of the Wii U cult classic title has been a long time coming, but at last, it’s here, and gamers will go nuts for it. However, some people have also gotten the game with the express purpose of diving into the code and seeing what else the game has to offer from a “Data Standpoint.” While that might seem folly, a hidden set of code may reveal something to come in the near future…
Specifically, as you’ll see in the tweet below, the game apparently has a “60FPS Mode” that you can’t properly run on the Nintendo Switch. The question then becomes, “Why is the code there if it can’t be used?” The common belief is that it’s not meant to be used…at the current moment. Instead, it’ll be used when the Nintendo Switch 2 comes out later this year. By all accounts, the Switch 2 will be a nice jump in graphics and processing power from what the Nintendo Switch can do. So, it goes to reason that if this new port was to go to that console, it could be able to run at 60FPS. It’s also important to remember that Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has already noted that the Switch 2 will be fully backward compatible outside of a select few games. So, you can enjoy the game now on the OG Switch and possibly get an even better experience in a few months once the Switch 2 arrives.
Focusing on what Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition is as a whole, the game is a completely different story than that of the main trilogy. It focuses on a version of the universe where the Earth is destroyed in an alien conflict, and only a few ships full of humans manage to escape. One of those “arks” held the colony of New Los Angeles, which crash lands on the planet called Mira.
You are awoken from a stasis pod and join the group called BLADE to help stabilize the colony, find other pods of survivors, and fight off the vile threat known as Ganglion. You won’t be alone in battles, and that includes being able to wield a mighty mech known as a Skell.
Plus, the game has an all-new story to partake in. The game is available right now on Nintendo Switch.
