There is a ton of hype around Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft might not have the strongest track record right now for new games. But franchise fans will likely still eagerly dive into this next installment. We sincerely hope it delivers, as it’s such a beloved franchise, and Ubisoft could use a win here. However, we’re finding out a little more about the game’s length today.
Genk_JPN on X revealed they had the opportunity to attend an Assassin’s Creed Shadows event held in Japan. During this event, they had the chance to speak with the game’s creative director, Jonathan Dumont. During their conversation, we learned a few things about the game, such as its length. In the past, we’ve heard some rough numbers as to how long the game might take.
However, as reported by Genki, the game could be completed in as little as 30 hours—that, of course, if you just focused on the main campaign. If you add some additional side content, you’ll find the game expanding to over 80 hours to finish. So, ultimately, it will come down to how you play. If you’re after more than just what the main campaign narrative offers, you might spend a bit more time here.
We’re certainly interested in seeing how this game works, especially since we’re finally stepping back in time with Japan. There are also some new mechanics, such as the new dynamic cutting system. As reported by Genki, this system will showcase exactly where cuts are placed on a target depending on where your sword strikes.
However, developers are also interested in player feedback. For instance, we don’t have a New Game+ mode. After developers listen to player feedback, New Game+ and other modes could be added later.
Players interested in Assassin’s Creed Shadows can still expect it to launch this month. We know the game is set for release on March 20, 2025. When released, it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
