Nintendo is gearing up to release its next console. With a surprise trailer that highlighted the Nintendo Switch 2 last month, we know that the big showcase for the system is set to take place in a couple of months. During this showcase, we should get an overview of the console and some of the games coming on it. Among that list of games, a former Nintendo artist is hopeful a couple of his past works will be ported over.
There are plenty of games we would like to see Nintendo bring back out. However, if you were to ask Takaya Imamura, the next port Nintendo should be bringing out is Star Fox Assault. If you’re unfamiliar with who this person is, that would be an artist who worked at Nintendo for several decades.
This artist worked at Nintendo for over thirty years and designed iconic characters like F-Zero and the Star Fox series. They also helped bring out several iconic games to the marketplace. But in 2021, Takaya Imamura stepped away from Nintendo. Of course, they are still fond of some of the games they worked on and comment on the titles through their official X account.
Thanks to VGC, we’re finding out this artist mentioned the recent release anniversary of Star Fox Assault and Steel Driver: Sub Wars. Both received pleas from the former Nintendo artist to receive ports for the upcoming Switch 2 console.
Steel Driver: Sub Wars was released in 2014 and was a free-to-play game that eventually saw the services shut down in 2023. Meanwhile, Star Fox: Assault was released on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2005. Neither has been confirmed to see a new release or port from Nintendo yet. But then again, it’s possible there could be mention of some new ports coming to the upcoming console when the upcoming Nintendo Direct rolls around for the Switch 2 console.
