A Resident Evil Game Will Find Its Servers Shutting Down This Year

February 6, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s your warning!

Capcom has been on a roll lately when it comes to the Resident Evil franchise. After stepping back and reevaluating the franchise from Resident Evil 6, things have started to blossom. It was a pivot point as the developers went back to their roots and delivered a more survival horror experience. We even saw the team bring out some remakes of their classic-era releases.

That doesn’t mean they haven’t stopped with the idea of creating a different gameplay experience. Sure, we haven’t seen the full tilt of becoming an action horror experience like the sixth mainline installment. However, we had a multiplayer gameplay experience release that came bundled when Capcom dropped Resident Evil Village. The game was called Resident Evil Re:Verse, and with it, players were getting a third-person multiplayer shooter.

If you didn’t play the game, it was essentially set up to be a deathmatch where you first take control of a human character. As you die, your character will turn into a different bioweapon. It offered various iconic characters that you could be turned into as you attempt to rack up points.

However, we’re finding out that Re:Verse is being taken offline today. Capcom alerted fans today that the game and its DLC will be removed, and the servers will shut down on June 29, 2025. As noted by Capcom, this multiplayer game was just a means to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic franchise series.

We regret to share that we will be ending all service and support for Resident Evil Re:Verse on June 29, 2025. Thank you to the Re:Verse players over the last few years!

According to the official website post, a few stages will happen. Starting on March 3, the game and DLC will be removed from online stores. Then, when June 29, 2025, rolls around, the servers will shut down. Players can continue using any RP Boosters they have purchased until the service ends. Likewise, those who have purchased a Premium Pass will be able to use the content unlocked until again the servers end.

So, if you enjoyed the game, you still have some time left to play it again. As for what’s next in this franchise, we’re still in the dark. There have been no official announcements confirming the next game that will be landing in the marketplace.
