When the original Kingdom Hearts was announced for PS2, I thought it looked like the dumbest thing I had ever seen. Some kid with a key? Disney characters? Why was Square wasting time on this garbage when they could be making more awesome Final Fantasy games? When Kingdom Hearts finally came out and I gave it a try, I quickly changed my mind.
Fast forward ten years and I'd cancel every single Final Fantasy being made from here on out just to get a screenshot of Kingdom Hearts 3. People are in love with the series (the tenth anniversary edition of the 3DS famously sold out in under a minute) despite the fact that we haven't had a proper, Sora-focused game since 2 released ages ago. So it's no surprise that people are really looking forward to Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, the latest game coming to 3DS and featuring Sora once again.
When is that game going to be released? According to Square-Enix's French store, the European launch will be on Friday, July 27th, 2012. After someone noticed, it was hastily switched to "summer 2012" but it wouldn't be the first time a release date was accidentally leaked by a retail outlet. Barring any unforeseen delays, it seems safe to think we could be getting our Keyblade on with Sora again in just a few months time.
