Following last week's info blowout on Guild Wars 2's World vs. World gametype, ArenaNet has tackled fan questions about the new game mode, which pits upwards of 1200 players from three different servers against each other in a persistent, two-week long battle.
Among the more interesting details is confirmation that World vs. World will utilize the game's day/night cycle. That means those two-week long battles will last for a whopping 168 in-game days, offering plenty of opportunies for moonlit castle sieges.
Also of note is a more detailed rundown of the bonuses you can earn for your server by playing in WvW. These are broken down into three different categories. The first, World Bonuses, are activated by earning points in WvW, and they'll automatically be applied to everyone on your server, both in WvW and PvE. It's an interesting choice, and one that should help ensure that even PvE-exclusive players will still be rooting for their server to pull ahead in the battle.
The second type is Orb Bonuses, which are earned by capturing Orbs of Power, and only apply to your team in the WvW. Finally, guild bonuses are achieved when a guild researches and places them at objectives, and they'll apply to anyone from that world within the immediate vicinity of the bonus.
Sadly, ArenaNet says the nature of WvW means that once all the maps fill up, you'll be forced to enter a queue if you want to join the battle, but they've taken precautions to prevent players from abusing the system. The player cap on each map will be regulated on a per-world basis, so one team won't be able to flood into a map en masse in an effort to block out reinforcements.
If you're still jonsing for more details on World vs. World, you can take a look at the full blog post or check out the live Q&A session ArenaNet is currently running over on Reddit.
Guild Wars 2 will be out on PC later this year, with plans for a console version to follow at a later date.
