A new rumor claims Nintendo is aggressively pursuing new media partners in an attempt to ensure the Wii U will offer a robust entertainment experience.
According to a report from AdWeek, the company met with "a select number of top content companies" at CES last month in an attempt to bring video and music content to their new console. Only one potential partner was mentioned by name, US cable provider Comcast, though that may be a sign that Nintendo wants the Wii U to also function as an Internet TV device.
Microsoft has recently made a strong push into that arena, signing deals with Comcast and Verizon to offer live streaming HDTV programming to the Xbox 360.
One source from the report notes that the talks are "very preliminary" and "could go nowhere," though it's hard to imagine that Nintendo wants to spend another generation behind their competitor's entertainment offerings.
The Wii U is scheduled for a worldwide launch sometime before Holiday 2012.
