EA is launching copies of Mass Effect into space. No, that wasn’t a joke.
Using weather balloons, the games will be launched into space from Paris, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, London and Berlin. Fans will be able to track their progress using attached GPS devices, and anyone we be able to find them when they land – more than a week before it’s official release.
You can track the games using the official website, and if you’re lucky enough to find a copy when it lands, you could probably make quite a neat little sum off it, too. Collector’s editions may come and go, but a copy of Mass Effect that’s been in space is a whole new world of special.
Wouldn’t it be really funny if aliens got these games while they were in space and they were actually our first contact? Or, more likely, wouldn’t it be funny if they all landed in the ocean?
