For years, fans of the Silent Hill franchise were left in limbo. Konami wasn’t picking this franchise up and delivering anything noteworthy in most players’ eyes. Eventually, the game franchise went dormant after several attempts by Western developers to try their hand at the game IP. But it wasn’t too long ago that Konami unveiled their plans to bring this franchise back to the forefront. One of the new releases planned was a remake of Silent Hill 2.
For fans of the franchise, Silent Hill 2 is considered the pinnacle of all the installments released. It’s a thrilling game that brought in many fans when it initially launched in 2001. So, there was plenty of skepticism about a remake coming out. Likewise, some fans were unconvinced that the Bloober Team could pull this project off. The pressure was on the studio to deliver, and now we are just days away from finally trying the game out ourselves.
That said, reviewers are going through the game and preparing to launch their takes when the embargo lifts. Apparently, one of the big publications in Japan had already released its review scores, suggesting that the Bloober Team pulled it off.
Thanks to Gematsu, we’re finding out that Famitsu in Japan has released their review scores for Silent Hill 2. The review specifically covered the game on the PlayStation 5, where they gave it a 35/40. It was noted that it also takes about eighteen hours to complete the campaign. Since the first review is positive, it might have some fans even more excited about the upcoming launch. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if other reviews come in for their takes on how they feel Bloober Team did with this iconic survival horror game.
Currently, Silent Hill 2 is set to release on October 8, 2024. Although, it seems that some players have already managed to get their hands on a physical copy of the game. You’ll find the title available for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms when it launches.
