A troubling trend that the game industry has been leaning heavily on lately is announcing a game for the masses to rave about and then not showing anything about that game for a long time. Many will argue that this is to “build hype,” and yet, many games are announced just months before release, and the hype is built up instantly and naturally as more details unfold. One game that gamers are still waiting for any kind of details on is Marvel’s Wolverine by Insomniac Games. The title was announced a couple of years back, and yet, nothing new has been revealed about the game itself.
However, as some have pointed out, Insomniac Games made a certain claim about the game via the PlayStation Blog post that discussed the “benefits” of the PS5 Pro and how developers would use those benefits. Here is what Insomniac had to say about things:
“At Insomniac Games, we’ve released four games for PlayStation 5, and we’re excited to be enhancing all four to take advantage of the new capabilities available to us on the PS5 Pro. We’re excited to spend even more time finding new ways we can leverage PS5 Pro on both these existing titles and future games like Marvel’s Wolverine.”
So, basically, Insomniac Games is saying that Wolverine’s solo title will make the best possible use of the PS5 Pro as it can. We honestly wouldn’t expect anything less, but what that means in the long run is moot because we don’t know anything about the game itself! The title was first announced via a teaser showing Logan in “standard attire” at a bar before protruding his claws menacingly. Ever since then, we’ve heard nothing. It also didn’t help that Insomniac Games had a massive leak that eventually released a “trailer” for what the game might look like, but we don’t know how true that is to what the game looks like now.
Not to mention, while the PS5 Pro is impressive, we know they’ll develop the game as best they can for the standard PS5 edition, as that’s the one that has over 60 million units sold. Right now, gamers aren’t truly interested in what the developers have to say about the upcoming “upgraded” system; they just want to know what games they’ll be playing on it next.
Wolverine’s next adventure could be really cool if done properly, and fans do trust Insomniac Games. The only thing they don’t trust is teases of when we might hear something about its next title.
