I reported earlier in the week that Mass Effect 3 for PC won't directly support controllers. If you plug them in, it might just work, but don't expect Bioware to start issuing patches if your $200 controller doesn't respond. It seems that the basic "we don't particularly care" attitude that has been attributed to them over this issue may be a little off the mark but, given the response, it's difficult to know for sure.
"There is a development cost in terms of time/effort to get all the graphical user interfaces so 360 buttons show up on PC," Manveer Heir tweeted. "it may seem minor, but our GUI team was already stretched thin & things were coming in on at last min, so we couldn't add more work."
"Definitely not "we don't give a damn". It's unfortunate and I understand why people are upset, but there are dev realities sadly."
It's a strange reason to remove such a key feature and, honestly, this reason seems makes the whole situation seem a little more petty, rather than understandable. Not necessarily that they don't give a damn, but that there may be other reasons that aren't being shared.
