First announced in 2021, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is an upcoming animated fantasy drama film set in The Witcher universe. Fans have been eager for an update, and Netflix has responded, announcing that the movie will be released on the streaming service on February 11, 2025.
This will be the second animated feature film inspired by the popular book and game series, following The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf released in August 2021.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will reportedly take place between the fifth and sixth episodes of the first season of the live-action Witcher Netflix series.
Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will reprise his role. Joey Batey, who played Jaskier in the live-action series, will also star, along with his co-star Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg.
The film is based on A Little Sacrifice, a short story penned by the creator of the Witcher universe, Andrzej Sapkowki. Unsurprisingly, it involves Geralt “hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village, finding himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople.”
Released in 2015, The Witcher 3 has sold over 50 million copies, making it one of the best-selling video games ever. It holds over 200 game of the year awards, also taking home trophies for Excellence in Technical Achievement, Excellence in Visual Achievement, and Excellence in Narrative at the 2016 SXSW Gaming Awards. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
