The PlayStation 5 Pro was just unveiled to the masses yesterday. After a slew of rumors and reports indicated that a new Pro model was coming, the console was finally confirmed with details about what to get excited about. While this console looks to be making some nice improvements in terms of performance, it comes with a very steep price point that has turned away quite a few consumers.
Picking up a PlayStation 5 Pro at launch will set you back $699.99, and that’s just the console itself. So, if this is your first time adopting the PlayStation 5 lineup, you’ll likely want a game or two and perhaps a secondary controller. To top it off, the PlayStation 5 Pro is a digital console, so that means purchasing a disc drive if you want physical media. That’s, of course, if you can find a disc drive, as they are selling out.
However, a good alternative is a refurbished PS5 console. Thanks to IGN, we’re learning that Sony is preparing to sell these units at a decent discount. A digital edition PlayStation 5 will cost $349.99, while a console that includes a disc drive will cost $399.99.
The PlayStation website notes that refurbished units will provide consumers with a clean and tested console. These units will come in their own refurbished branded pack and be packed with all the necessary accessories, cables, and manuals. We’re currently waiting to see when these units become available. This might be the better option to jump into the PlayStation 5 lineup if you found the PlayStation 5 Pro just too much money to warrant the purchase.
We’re confident these units will be well serviced as they come directly from Sony. So again, if you want to jump into the platform and don’t mind not having the power of the PS5 Pro, this could be a perfect opportunity. Meanwhile, you could also wait and see just what Nintendo has cooking up as they seemingly filmed their first marketing commercial for their mysterious next-generation console.
