Are you tired of people talking about the Nintendo Switch 2 like they have a “crystal ball” or are “personally friends with” President Shuntaro Furukawa? Yeah, we’re kind of tired of that, too. The problem is that this kind of thing won’t stop anytime soon, and we all need to strap in and just wait for things to go boom. Or bust, that’s an option, too, after all. Regardless, the latest piece of news comes from the Spanish podcast Un Café Con Nintendo. They have been behind many reports in the past, and their latest episode claimed to know much about The Big N’s upcoming console.
According to the three hosts, they heard about Nintendo wanting to “clear September” so that they could have a “big event” within it. So much so that they told their “soldiers” about it, in this case, meaning other game developers, so that they would be ready for when the announcements drop. They even went so far as to state that there’s an 80-99% chance that we’ll hear about the Nintendo Switch 2 in the next 2-3 weeks.
So, that’s a lot to comprehend. Plus, we obviously can’t say for certain that this is true for a whole host of reasons. However, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of such things, and many are expecting something to happen within the next 20 days regarding the Switch 2.
The biggest “clue” that everyone is latching onto is that Nintendo, for the first time, bundled together a Partner’s Showcase Direct and an Indie World Showcase. That threw a lot of people off due to how The Big N usually separates the two so that one doesn’t “overpower” the other. Plus, many were expecting a traditional Nintendo Direct in September, and now that has to be put into doubt.
That being said, if the Direct that might arrive is about the Switch 2, not unlike how Sony revealed its PS5 Pro in a mini-showcase today, that could change things. We don’t know what Nintendo is planning for its next console outside of it releasing in the 2025 fiscal year. They have claimed that they’re aiming to do the best possible transition for the system, and there are rumors about being able to transfer saved/downloaded games form the Switch to the Switch 2 thanks to its online system.
However, we will reiterate that this is just speculation based on “sources” that they obviously won’t reveal. Until Nintendo says ANYTHING, don’t take it as gospel.
