Fallout 76 Players Will Be Treated Differently When Playing As A Ghoul

August 30, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

The Fallout 76 creative director comments on the upcoming Ghoul update.

Fallout fans are finding a resurgence with the franchise lately. With the hit Amazon TV series adaptation of the IP, more and more players are piling into the games. While we might be waiting a while before we get our hands on Fallout 5, there is Fallout 76 to keep players entertained. This game is still supported with new updates, one of which will actually open up the ability to take on the role of being a Ghoul.

The Ghouls within Fallout are often looked down upon. Sure, we have seen instances where Ghouls are helpful and connect with a city just fine. But more often than not, they are met with prejudices. Despite that, the community of players is eager to see the option of being a playable Ghoul come to fruition, and in Fallout 76, that will be happening soon. Next year, an update will roll out, allowing players to become a Ghoul within the multiplayer title. However, there is more to this than just a character’s skin.

Thanks to TheGamer, the publication spoke with Fallout 76’s creative director on the upcoming Ghoul addition. Jon Rush stated that there will be future story updates and content where NPC interactions and decisions are considered just for being a Ghoul. So, there might be some unique opportunities to arrive just by being a Ghoul in this game instead of a typical survivor.

For future story updates or new content going in, where you’re interacting with NPCs and making decisions, being a Ghoul is going to be taken into account. That will absolutely be a factor. Things will be different if you’re a Ghoul. – Jon Rush

At any rate, we’ll have to wait and see just how the development team handles this exciting new addition. Of course, that might even persuade Fallout 5 to add a feature of being a Ghoul based on the reception the developers receive with this update. With that said, we’ll be waiting a good while for Fallout 5, and we already received confirmation that development going into Fallout 76 is not hampering the development process toward the next mainline game.
