In June, Nintendo surprised fans with another installment of the beloved The Legend of Zelda franchise on the Nintendo Switchyear. Most players would assume things have dialed way back as Nintendo prepares to introduce the world to its next big console hardware. Now, we’re still waiting for that announcement to happen, but September will see the release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom to keep you dialed in on your Switch a bit longer.
Today, Nintendo decided to drop a brand new trailer for the game. It’s just over five minutes long, and it provides players with a little more insight into what we can expect with the gameplay and the characters we’ll meet along the way. One of the big reveals in this trailer was that Princess Zelda will have a Sword Form. This powerup allows players to fight directly with a sword, much like we’re used to with the series protagonist Link.
This Sword Form is limited, so you can’t wield a sword forever. However, with it equipped, you can slash obstacles and enemies down. When the gauge runs out, you’ll need to acquire energy within the game to unlock the ability once again. You’ll even have a complete say when you decide to use this sword in the game.
Of course, the big focus of this game is called echoes. This feature allows Princess Zelda to recreate different objects to monsters on the fly with her special magical Tri Rod. So, we imagine there will be plenty of unique ways players can solve puzzles or cross gaps by summoning these objects.
We don’t have too long of a wait to enjoy this game as it is set to launch on September 26, 2024, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch platform. In the meantime, you can view the latest trailer release in the video embedded below.
