Legendary Tekken character Heihachi Mishima has been announced as the third DLC character coming to Tekken 8 this fall. The announcement is thrilling fans who were disappointed at the King of the Iron Fist’s absence at launch.

“Tekken 7 really focused on the story arc between Heihachi and his son, Kazuya, and so, we really wanted to show that kind of final conclusion, and he seemed to die at that point,” said Tekken 8 executive producer Katsuhiro Harada in a new interview with IGN.
“But then, after that happened, Tekken 8 was released, and we put a lot of effort into the story and the fans really seemed to be engaged with that. And as that was happening, we were kind of feeling that the players kind of missed him as well. Obviously, we did, too. So, it was kind of decided later on that we would do that.”
While Tekken 8 has earned plenty of rave reviews, it came under fire soon after release for adding pricey cosmetic microtransactions to the game, with some costing as much as $30.
Tomorrow, July 23, Bandai Namco will also release the Tekken 8 version 1.06 update, which includes ‘Seaside Resort,’ a free beachside resort-themed battle stage. It will also include some behavior fixes, but no battle adjustments. In June, the massive 1.05 update added a huge amount of buffs and nerfs, with major improvements for defensive players.
Tekken 8 was released on January 26, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Extensive updates are planned, including more DLC characters and crossovers. In March, Eddy Gordo was introduced as the first DLC character, followed by Lidia Sobieska this month.
