Well, it didn’t take the Nintendo Direct long for something big and unique to be announced! As many suspected, Mario was one of the focuses of the Direct, and that’s not surprising given how popular he’s been in recent times. However, no one, not even the many rumor and leaker makers predicted the arrival of Mario & Luigi Brothership! That’s because this is the next entry in the beloved RPG franchise, which Nintendo itself admitted hasn’t had a new entry in nearly a decade! So it’s time to get the brothers to work, because things are about to get fun on this adventure!
As the reveal trailer shows, Mario and Luigi are just doing their thing in the Mushroom Kingdom when they’re suddenly sucked up through a portal and taken to a new land! It’s there that they meet Connie, who appears to be having trouble within her own kingdom and needs the Mario Bros’ help to get out of it. Through a special ship they get, they’ll find themselves flying from island to island to solve problems, beat all-new enemies, and unlock special abilities!
The enemies that Mario and Luigi will face are apparently the “Extension Corps,” and they’ll be tough foes! That means that Mario and Luigi will need to work together like never before to defeat them. Just like in the previous titles, the game will feature not only standard RPG attacks but combo attacks featuring the brothers! That means you’ll need to have perfect timing within these attacks to do maximum damage!
Plus, you’ll need to work together to make your way through the various parts of the islands you find yourselves on! It’ll be a total experience for the brothers, so don’t waste a second once you start playing!
The true beauty about this game isn’t that it looks fresh and fun; it’s that the game completes the “trifecta” of Mario RPG titles that have come out in the last year! We got Super Mario RPG last November, completely remaking the SNES classic. Then, last month, we got the remaster/remake of Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door, one of the best RPGs of all time! And now, we got the return of this RPG franchise! Nintendo once said they weren’t sure if people would play all these different series, and now they know they will!
Hopefully, this means that the series will continue well after this title arrives.
Mario & Luigi Brothership arrives on November 7th on Nintendo Switch!
