Super Mario RPG Gets Huge Discount On One Site

June 17, 2024 by Todd Black

Get it while it’s cheap!

Look, we all know that sometimes you can’t get the newest and best games right when they come out. Sometimes, they don’t have the money. Other times, you have titles that you haven’t finished yet, and you want to beat them first until you buy something new. There are also those who don’t mind waiting to get a game until you see how it’s being reviewed or until the title in question gets a really good sale. If you’ve been waiting for Super Mario RPG to get a rather low price before buying, we have good news for you!

On Walmart, you can find the game for just $32.99! That means the game is pretty much 50% off. That doesn’t include tax or shipping, obviously, but it’s still an incredibly low price for a high-quality RPG. The title is a remake of the legendary SNES title and has not only modern graphics but some nice quality-of-life features that make it impossible to miss. So if you haven’t had the chance or ability to get the game yet, now is the time to make it happen.

The beauty of Super Mario RPG is that you can see the effects it had on Mario and Nintendo going forward from the SNES. For example, it was Mario’s first RPG adventure, and that led to the arrival of the Paper Mario franchise, which started on the N64, and the Mario & Luigi saga, which started on the Game Boy Advance. None of those would’ve been possible if the original SNES game by Square hadn’t tried to push things in a whole new direction.

The irony, of course, is that Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door recently got its own remaster/remake on the Nintendo Switch about six months after the previous RPG remake. Both games, by all accounts, have sold well, showing that fans are hungry for some more Mario-style RPG adventures. If they are to happen, it’s likely going to occur via the Switch 2, whenever that comes out.

As for right now, the thing that fans are looking forward to the most is the Nintendo Direct, which is scheduled to come out tomorrow. While it’s unlikely we’ll hear any RPG announcements from Mario and friends, that doesn’t mean that some other adventures starring them aren’t possible. After all, the Mushroom Kingdom crew has dominated 2024 so far, and with the Switch on the way out, Nintendo might want to keep using them if they know they can get big numbers from them.
