Capcom knew that there would be a lot of pressure on it regarding Street Fighter 6. After all, the previous entry in its long-standing fighting game franchise went from being an anticipated entry to being one of its most divisive to then being the title that had to “break its own rules” just to keep going. The game was so divisive amongst fans that the developers even straight-up apologized for what they did with it! They then put all they had into the 6th entry so that there would be accessibility, depth, and, most importantly, it would be a fun title to have.
Thankfully, Capcom was able to pull it off, because the game sold a lot, and a year later, Street Fighter 6 is still popular amongst players. In fact, the game just recently got the final character in its first season pass via Akuma. That alone gives people something interesting to try out.
Over the weekend, Capcom reminded players and fans that the game was officially one year old. But they didn’t just say that and leave! Oh no, they went deeper than that. They announced that they would be doing all sorts of special anniversary events and that people should be on the lookout for what’s coming!
To that end, not long after, they announced that there would be a “Fighting Pass” that players could get for the anniversary that would allow them to decorate their avatar character from the title with new outfits, including Li-Fen’s outfit. You can check out the video for that below:
The reaction to the video has honestly been a bit mixed. On the one hand, getting new content is nice, but on the other hand, it’s not the content that gamers are looking for. For example, many of the comments in the post above noted that they don’t want cosmetics for the avatar character; they want cosmetics for the fighters themselves. That’s ironic given that many other companies, including Bandai Namco, not only do that, but they charge a hefty price for them. Furthermore, when Capcom decided to do character cosmetics by bringing in outfits that looked like the TMNT, fans revolved because of how expensive they were.
The players also wanted confirmation of the second season pass and its characters. There have been rumors and leaks about who may have made the cut, but fans have their own requests about who they want in the game.
