Something very important happened today, readers. Today, Double Fine Productions proved that with a great idea and strong community support, you don’t have to wait for a publisher to give you the green light. In fact, you don’t even need a publisher – not when you can raise $400,000 in one day.
Thanks to the generosity of the gaming community, the Kickstarter for Double Fine Adventure, a point and click adventure from the people who brought you games such as Pyschonauts and Costume Quest, has surpassed it’s goal of $400,000 in a single day.
So far, over 11,000 of you have helped to fund the project, which will also be accompanied by a documentary that ensures you’ll see all the behind the scenes action – and not in that watered down, promotional way, either.
If you still want to jump in and contribute, all additional funds will go towards improving the quality of the game with things such as additional VO and language localization.
I’m so proud of the community right now.
