Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning combines the action of brawlers like God of War and Darksiders with the RPG mechanics of Skyrim and Dragon Age.
Designed by Elder Scrolls veteran Ken Rolston, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning isn't without its own thief gameplay mechanics, which come in the form of sneaking, backstabbing, and lockpicking.
Given the abundance of locked treasure chests throughout the dungeons of Amalur, it's handy for any thief to carry a few dozen lockpicks and pack the knowhow to use them.
Lockpicking in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is not too different from Skyrim's, as it's basically an inverted, and slightly easier version of the system.
The object of the puzzle is to slide the top slider from the left all the way to the right, while making sure the lockpick at the bottom isn't facing any resistance. If it shakes, move it into another position. Slow and steady is the trick to picking locks in this game.
Pyrostasis has put together a video guide on how to lockpick.
