Hoping to casually shuffle into your local game store on launch and pick up a copy of the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector's Edition? You'd best change your plans, as BioWare has confirmed that the CE will only be available in extremely limited quantities, and many retailers have already sold out their allotment of pre-orders.
Fans who found themselves unable to reserve the CE recently began a petition on the game's official foums, asking BioWare to manufacture more copies in the runup to release. BioWare's Community Coordinator Chris Priestly has now shot down their request, stating that a second run just isn't possible this late in the game.
"Sorry, there simply cannot be any more physical CEs made before launch," he said. "The items included in the physical edition cannot be made in time for launch. Sorry, it will not happen. This is why, back in November, I started warning people that the CE would run out."
Priestly went on to explain that the PC digital Collector's Edition would still be available through Origin, featuring all the exclusive DLC from the boxed version. Still, if you're interested in picking up the art book, N7 patch, and other fancy goodies, you might already be out of luck.
Mass Effect 3 is out on the PS3, 360, and PC March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe.
