April 16, 2016 by Nick Monroe

Full list of PC features being announced “soon”.

DoomGame

Yesterday the DOOM official twitter account made a tweet that clarified the 60 FPS framelock on the beta.

“PC Players: the #DOOM Beta PC FPS is locked at 60 for beta purposes only. FPS will be unlocked at launch. More details coming next week.”

They stated that we’d be hearing more about PC features “soon”.

Lead Renderer Programmer at id Software, Tiago Sousa (@idSoftwareTiago on twitter) expressed satisfaction at the news.

Happy that we announced FPS unlock officially – code team been working hard on eradicating that for #PCMASTERRACE <3

In response to people’s questions as to why it wasn’t included in the first place, Tiago stated that the technical debt from the previous engine was “fairly encrusted” and that engineering FPS unlock takes some time to do.

Lead Project Programmer Billy Khan was also glad that they were “finally able to share this info”.
