Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Are Trying To Fix Xbox’s Lost Save Bug

December 13, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

A fix is coming soon.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was a massive release. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that. But this game was popping up all over the web, with fans enjoying the thrilling experience crafted by the development team at Larian Studios. However, it was also a game that avoided the Xbox Series X/S platforms for a little while. The studio had to overcome technical issues preventing the game from running as the developers had hoped. Fortunately, that wait has ended, and Xbox players could finally dive into this RPG.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a pesky bug that is quite annoying for some players. There is an issue going on right now where some players find their save progress lost. That’s annoying to deal with for any game, but we imagine those eagerly awaiting to try this RPG; this bug is beyond frustrating. It’s a problem that the studio is aware of and is looking to bring out a fix soon. Thanks to a report by the VGC, we’re finding out that the next update will hopefully resolve this save issue.

With that said, it’s also a save issue that could be prevented through a small workaround. Microsoft has released a few handy tips to help fans avoid running into this problem. According to a post from the Xbox Support X social media account, players need to do a few things to limit the possibility of losing their save progress. This includes saving their game, returning to the Xbox dashboard, and selecting the option to Quit Game. Otherwise, players could go through the Save to Quick Resume after playing. But it’s also noted that players shouldn’t disconnect their console from power. Instead, it’s recommended that you select shut down from the console menu and leave the Xbox connected to power.

Of course, we’re hopeful that this new update resolves the issue completely and players are no longer losing out on their save game progression. With that said, this is easily one of the biggest games released this year if you have yet to pick up a copy. Just last week during The Game Awards, we’ve seen Baldur’s Gate 3 take home several awards. That includes the Game of the Year award. But if you’re looking for a little more insight into the game, then we do have a Before You Buy video coverage of the title. You can find that video below.
