Game Informer's got the first three in-game screenshots for Naughty Dog's survival horror action game The Last of Us, showcasing a bit of combat and the game's gorgeous post-apocalyptic environments. You can catch all three below, alongside some new gameplay details.
As has been heavily rumored, you'll only control one of the game's two main characters, Joel. Ellie will be handled by sophisticated AI, and the team has gone to great lengths to ensure that the game doesn't feel like your traditional escort mission.
Combat will place emphasis on both guns and melee attacks, but much like in Dead Rising, weapons will degrade and eventually become unusable. This means you'll need to spend a great deal of time scavenging for items to protect yourself.
Finally, we've got confirmation that at least one segment of the game will take place in Pittsburgh, city of bridges and irate Steelers fans.
The Last of Us will be out for the PS3 sometime in late 2012 or early 2013.
